Components

Components are the parts inside your assets—oil filters, air filters, belts, separators, and other consumables that need regular replacement.

Component Types

Saite comes pre-populated with some component types:

  • Oil Filter
  • Primary Air Filter
  • Secondary Air Filter
  • Oil
  • Belt
  • Drive
  • Separator
  • Valve Kit
  • Motor

You can create custom component types in Settings as well as edit or remove the ones we give you to start with.

Consumables

Component can be flagged as "consumable" allowing you to track service intervals.

Service Intervals

Component types can have default service intervals based on:

  • Time — Replace every X months (e.g., oil every 12 months)
  • Hours — Replace every X runtime hours (e.g., oil every 2,000 hours)

When both are set, whichever comes first triggers service due.

Example: Oil with a 12-month / 2,000-hour interval on a compressor running 8 hours/day would hit the hour limit around 8 months, triggering service before the 12-month mark.

Estimated Service Time

Component types can have estimated service times for different actions:

  • Change time — Minutes to replace the component
  • Inspect time — Minutes to inspect the component
  • Clean time — Minutes to clean the component

Saite uses these estimates to calculate total service time for scheduling. When you view a service on the Schedule page, the estimated time badge shows how long the job might take based on which components are due.

Tracking Components

Each component tracks:

  • Type — What kind of part it is
  • Part Number — Manufacturer or supplier part number (can link to Parts Catalog)
  • Last Replaced — When it was last changed

Service Due Tracking

When you record that a component was replaced, Saite remembers. Combined with service intervals, you can see:

  • When each component was last serviced
  • How many hours since last service (for hour-tracked assets)
  • Whether a component is overdue based on time or hours

Adding Components to an Asset

  1. Navigate to the asset's detail page
  2. Click Add Component
  3. Select the component type
  4. Enter the part number (optional but recommended)
  5. Set the last replaced date if known
  6. Save

Tip: Recording component replacements during service keeps your maintenance history accurate and helps predict future service needs.

Part Numbers

Recording part numbers provides several benefits:

  • Quick reordering — Know exactly what to order
  • Consistency — Ensure the right parts are used every time
  • Cross-referencing — Track which parts work in which equipment

Parts Catalog

Saite maintains a Parts Catalog of items used during service. Access it from the main navigation under Parts.

Managing the Catalog

The Parts Catalog is a searchable list of all parts your company uses:

  • Name — What you call the part (e.g., "Filter Element - 10 Micron")
  • Part Number — Manufacturer or supplier part number
  • Manufacturer — Who makes it
  • Description — Optional notes about the part

Adding Parts

  1. Go to Parts in the navigation
  2. Click Add Part
  3. Enter the part details
  4. Save

Linking to Components

When adding a component to an asset, you can link it to a catalog item for:

  • Consistent part numbers across assets
  • Quick reordering reference
  • Cross-referencing which parts work in which equipment
